All paid boat workers must hold Commercial "Tickets"

Coxswain 3NC is the minimum for up to 3 paid crew working on a boat with no passengers.

The Cox3NC commercial ticket, can be a 1 day upgrade from our Boat Licence course.

We assess for Cox3NC together with our SA Boat Licence course as a 1 day course.

This course is an 8 hour practical skills training and competency assessment check list (See below) to be reported to AMSA for issue of the Cox3NC ticket. We normally assess for Cox3NC together with our SA Boat Licence course, if appropriate, as a refresher for those who already hold a boat licence.

CoxNC3 Candidates are advised to request a copy of the check list below as a brief overview of the assessment. A list of rope work and knots are part of the assessment. Learning the ropes and knots is a good start place that can be done prior to the course date. A number of rope and knots books are available in book shops.

VET training classes are required for:

Cox.2NC:- Max 12 paid worker crew and no passengers
Cox.1NC:- Driver & paid crew, with max of 12 people on the boat

COMMERCIAL BOAT CREW INCLUDES:-

Workers in ship construction facilities (Pt Adelaide workshops and slipways)
Workers in marinas and slipways
Paid ski boat or safety boat operators
Instructors managing hire houseboats,
Hospitality & bar crew on riverboats.
